OSHAKATI – Defence Minister Charles Namoloh has commended communities that have contributed to the country’s tree-planting initiative.
Speaking at a recent tree-planting programme stakeholders’ forum held here, Namoloh also commended the former president Dr Sam Nujoma for setting an example in the tree-planting initiative. The former Ambassador said Nujoma had served as an exemplary leader by establishing and spearheading a plantation project at the Engombe grassland area in the Uuvudhiya constituency of the Oshana Region.Namoloh has, however, suggested that all stakeholders should be more serious with the tree-planting programme so as to make Namibia a green country by year 2030.He also felt that a larger budgetary allocation was needed for the tree-planting programme, so that it could be used to train those people who would take charge of the tree-planting projects. This, according to Namoloh, would increase the volume of tree-planting initiatives in the country.Namoloh also wants to see contractors who win tenders take part in the tree-planting programme by planting trees wherever they are contracted.- NampaThe former Ambassador said Nujoma had served as an exemplary leader by establishing and spearheading a plantation project at the Engombe grassland area in the Uuvudhiya constituency of the Oshana Region.Namoloh has, however, suggested that all stakeholders should be more serious with the tree-planting programme so as to make Namibia a green country by year 2030.He also felt that a larger budgetary allocation was needed for the tree-planting programme, so that it could be used to train those people who would take charge of the tree-planting projects. This, according to Namoloh, would increase the volume of tree-planting initiatives in the country.Namoloh also wants to see contractors who win tenders take part in the tree-planting programme by planting trees wherever they are contracted.- Nampa
