The settlement is home to close to 1 000 people, mostly seasonal workers of the International Grape Company. The Namibia Red Cross Society has distributed tents that can accommodate about 10 people each.”We are very grateful. We distributed food supplies over the weekend, targeting mostly schools to feed the learners.Every child will receive two meals per day while parents will receive dinner,” the International Grape Company’s human resource manager, Frik Conradie, told Nampa.About 37 children attend the pre-primary school at the settlement, and about 400 are enrolled at the primary school on the farm.Standard Bank Namibia joined hands with the business community last week to donate food supplies, blankets and clothes to the flood victims.IS Freight Services delivered the supplies, which are valued at N$40 000.More donations are scheduled to reach the farm this week. The Ministry of Education in the Karas Region donated food, blankets and pillows to the victims, according to Conradie. He expressed concern about the fate of unemployed people living at the settlement.”It is very difficult to take care of them as one has to take care of your own workers. But we try,” he added.- NampaThe settlement is home to close to 1 000 people, mostly seasonal workers of the International Grape Company. But we try,” he added.- Nampa
