PLEASE allow me to comment on the recent failed bid of Namibia to host the lucrative African Nations Cup 2010.
First and foremost I would like to congratulate the entire bid committee for their hard work and effort to compete with Africa’s best in that quest. But in reality I think one of the main contributing factors for Namibia’s failure is the lack of proper technology.I know that some of the readers will wonder how technology and soccer mix.Well, the answer to that is very simple. In the first place our football governing body (NFA) does not have a website. On my recent visit to Soccer House I also discovered that there is a lack of proper e-mail facilities for NFA personnel. From past experience I can tell you that the first thing organisations such as CAF will look at is a website of the football governing body (NFA in our case) of the bidding country, which up to now does not exist. Not only for bidding purposes, but also for informing the rest of the world about activities of Namibian football online would the country good and thus also advertise our players. How does the NFA plan to advertise our football globally if not via website? I would like an NFA official to respond to this.As a football fanatic, I was very disappointed by the loss. Finally, I would like to wish the bidding committee well for their future plans regarding bidding issues.I willing to assist in this regard and can be contacted.Herold Steven Gainub Via e-mailBut in reality I think one of the main contributing factors for Namibia’s failure is the lack of proper technology.I know that some of the readers will wonder how technology and soccer mix.Well, the answer to that is very simple.
