I AM very much concerned about the Government flats and people who stay there, some for more than 15 years and up to now they are still staying there while they were supposed to have their own houses already.
Why would they buy cars instead of buying houses? Didn’t they save enough money? If you go there you will find old men/women staying there with their families – how about our young people who just began working for the Government? When are they going to enjoy the fruits of the independent Namibia or are the Government flats only for some people? When it comes to the flats you won’t even want to eat something there because the places are dirty, people who stay there don’t take care of the properties, they don’t care and they are abusing the place. We say Windhoek is the cleanest city in Africa, then go to the Government flats and see how dirty they are.Now the big question is whether it is allowed for people staying in the Government flats to sublet the rooms to people in need of accommodation? If so, for how much? Because as far as I’m concerned they are not allowed to sublet the rooms and those who do so charge too much, from $500 upward.I think the Government needs to pay attention to this.T Victor Via e-mailWe say Windhoek is the cleanest city in Africa, then go to the Government flats and see how dirty they are.Now the big question is whether it is allowed for people staying in the Government flats to sublet the rooms to people in need of accommodation?
