LONDON – The Football Association confirmed Monday they had received Chelsea’s letter addressing concerns over the treatment of fractured-skull victim Petr Cech.
The goalkeeper was injured in a challenge with Reading’s Stephen Hunt a week ago, and the Czech keeper had to leave the ground in an ambulance. Chelsea criticised the tackle on Cech, and the medical procedures in getting him out of the ground and off to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, speaking last week, highlighted the time it took to get an ambulance to Cech but the club insist they are not trying to apportion blame.Chelsea officials, however, are convinced important lessons can be learnt from the experience, which will offer quicker treatment in future for players who suffer serious injuries on the pitch. The London club have put their observations in writing and the FA has promised to look into the points raised. An FA spokesman said on Monday: “We have received a letter and will respond in due course to address their concerns.”Chelsea’s letter includes their comments about Hunt’s challenge on Cech but this is unlikely to persuade the FA’s disciplinary chiefs to act against the Reading winger. The FA announced last week that there would be no formal action taken against Hunt because referee Mike Riley dealt with the incident at the time.Nampa-AFPChelsea criticised the tackle on Cech, and the medical procedures in getting him out of the ground and off to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, speaking last week, highlighted the time it took to get an ambulance to Cech but the club insist they are not trying to apportion blame.Chelsea officials, however, are convinced important lessons can be learnt from the experience, which will offer quicker treatment in future for players who suffer serious injuries on the pitch. The FA announced last week that there would be no formal action taken against Hunt because referee Mike Riley dealt with the incident at the time.Nampa-AFP
