Big Health Risk

Big Health Risk

ALLOW me to write something about the sanitation problem in Okahandja Park informal settlement in Windhoek.

It is a pity that low-income households are neglected by both the Government and Municipality. The residents of Okahandja Park need the City to act promptly to resolve this problem as people’s health is at risk. There are no proper toilets, despite the efforts of the Shack Dwellers Federation to provide better houses to this low-income society. The toilets that are currently being used are pit latrines and the holes were not dug deep enough.Hence they release a terrible smell! I have seen headlines in the newspapers in the past months about the issue, but nothing has been done so far.So allow me to say it is one thing that will increase the risk of polio and other diseases and infections because people are using riverbeds instead, which is the same place they dig roots for food.In conclusion, I would like to stress that the health of Okahandja Park residents is the health of the whole city.So the city has to act as soon as possible to save people’s lives.Puta Okahandja ParkThe residents of Okahandja Park need the City to act promptly to resolve this problem as people’s health is at risk. There are no proper toilets, despite the efforts of the Shack Dwellers Federation to provide better houses to this low-income society. The toilets that are currently being used are pit latrines and the holes were not dug deep enough.Hence they release a terrible smell!
