THE Erongo Youth Forum (ERYF) will host its first annual Youth Enterprise Expo in Swakopmund at the end of June.
The expo is an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services, and expose themselves to business opportunities. Deputy Minister of Youth Pohamba Shifeta said in his keynote address at the launch of the expo last week that young people, specifically young women, were the agents to social change, but were also vulnerable to unemployment and poverty. He added that there was an increase in the number of young women participating in national entrepreneurial programmes, and who are now successful business operators.”These are an inspiration to others, showing that it is possible to generate an income for oneself and create wealth,” Shifeta stated. He said the Namibian economy was too small to accommodate all school leavers, and only about 30 per cent of them would be able to get full-time jobs.Swakopmund Mayor Rosina //Hoabes said the youth have the potential of running the nation, developing the economy, and achieving national goals. She called upon the private sector to encourage and support young entrepreneurs in realising this potential.Regional Councillor Johannes Nangolo of the Walvis Bay Rural constituency said the youth played a big role in their own development, and are responsible for making a better future for themselves.About 80 exhibitors will be displaying their products and services from June 28 to July 1.Deputy Minister of Youth Pohamba Shifeta said in his keynote address at the launch of the expo last week that young people, specifically young women, were the agents to social change, but were also vulnerable to unemployment and poverty. She called upon the private sector to encourage and support young entrepreneurs in realising this potential.Regional Councillor Johannes Nangolo of the Walvis Bay Rural constituency said the youth played a big role in their own development, and are responsible for making a better future for themselves.About 80 exhibitors will be displaying their products and services from June 28 to July 1.
