I WROTE your esteemed newspaper some months ago regarding the politics of our country.
I related in that letter about the race for the presidency of Swapo. I stated then that Sam Nujoma might either continue or may give the reins of power to his handpicked successor Hifikepunye Pohamba.I still believe this to be the case.I had also written about the other wings of Swapo like the Women and Youth.I was specifically against the duo Kapia and Ngurare whom I described as political demagogues.I still believe this to be the case.Unfortunately, the advice in my earlier letter has come to naught as I read in the Government mouthpiece New Era that Ngurare is the sole nomination to succeed his close friend Kapia.I talked to some people who know and have studied with Ngurare who seem to say many good things about him. However, my position on him is that he has blind loyalty to Nujoma and Pohamba and I have never heard him publicly say anything in favour of Hidipo Hamutenya for example. He has also been very vocal about the imperialists. The last time I checked he obtained all his tertiary education from the so-called imperialist countries namely a science degree, a law degree and recently a PhD degree from United Kingdom. What is this if not the kettle calling the pot black? My advice to him is that he must now be inclusive and not exclude some people like the so-called ‘list of comrades’ of his predecessor Kapia. It is a shame that with all his academic qualifications he has allowed yourself to be on the leash of Nujoma.Anon, Via e-mail Note: Name and address provided – EdI stated then that Sam Nujoma might either continue or may give the reins of power to his handpicked successor Hifikepunye Pohamba.I still believe this to be the case.I had also written about the other wings of Swapo like the Women and Youth.I was specifically against the duo Kapia and Ngurare whom I described as political demagogues.I still believe this to be the case.Unfortunately, the advice in my earlier letter has come to naught as I read in the Government mouthpiece New Era that Ngurare is the sole nomination to succeed his close friend Kapia.I talked to some people who know and have studied with Ngurare who seem to say many good things about him.
