When Black Nationalism Goes Wrong

THE hate speech of Malcolm X Matundu and Alex Kamwi demonstrates what can happen when Black Nationalism goes wrong.

Malcolm X Matundu easily talks about killing “white” people. This reactionary Black Nationalism represents a warped and misguided conception of liberation and revolution. This point of view is nothing other than the thin edge of the wedge of a crude racism. One could even go so far as to say that it borders on a genocidal view. Not even the real Malcolm X stood for this at the end of his life. After he had travelled to the Middle East and met ‘white’ Muslims, the real Malcolm X understood that the liberation struggle was not about skin colour.Malcolm X Matundu is just a farce and an odious imitation.Alex Kamwi says that he ‘enjoyed really killing the Boers’.What can one say to this? Besides the derogatory language from an unliberated mind, this is an anarchist view that is downright psychopathic in its origin. It is a point of view that deservers the harshest sanctioning. This is obviously from someone with an extremely shallow political consciousness but is posturing as a ‘revolutionary’.There are unfortunately other pretenders like him in Namibia.Any liberation struggle worth its salt must maintain the moral high ground at all times. In making decisions around guerrilla warfare, for example, a distinction must be drawn between the system of white supremacy and “white” people in general, between the apartheid leadership and their followers, between enemy combatants and civilians, etc.The Namibian struggle for national liberation was never against “white” people in general. We fought against the system of colonialism! After all, the great revolutionary Vladimir Lenin was a ‘white’ person or, for that matter, that remarkable Afrikaner revolutionary, Bram Fischer, paid with his life for our freedom here in Southern Africa.Perhaps we should debate this moral backwardness of Matundu and Kamwi lest we end up like Rwanda.B R Muvangua WindhoekThis reactionary Black Nationalism represents a warped and misguided conception of liberation and revolution.
