Give Your Guts A Break

Give Your Guts A Break

I TOO read the announcement of the ‘Liquidation of KFC’ in The Namibian of June 8 with some elation.

Assuming that this referred to the well-known vendor of fried chicken fragments at extortionate prices, I thought this was a battle won in the drive towards healthy eating and the combating of obesity. But no, I then saw the correction, and it referred only to the liquidation of the company pension fund, which is actually worse, since it apparently leaves the staff high and dry without a pension.I didn’t even know that companies were allowed to do this. The advertisement lists the unfortunate employees, with the added indignity of what seems to be their dates of birth, plus the added information that they should phone Israel to get the claim forms! Are they at least entitled to reverse the charges? As good an excuse as any, to eschew, rather than chew the company’s products, and give your guts a break.Bill Torbitt WindhoekBut no, I then saw the correction, and it referred only to the liquidation of the company pension fund, which is actually worse, since it apparently leaves the staff high and dry without a pension.I didn’t even know that companies were allowed to do this. The advertisement lists the unfortunate employees, with the added indignity of what seems to be their dates of birth, plus the added information that they should phone Israel to get the claim forms!
