Bamfuchile wants discipline

BRAVE Warriors coach Ben Bamfuchile says he will not tolerate indiscipline from players as long as he is in charge of the national team.

Bamfuchile issued the warning at a media briefing yesterday, specifically referring to players who opt to run to the press and make statements without following the correct procedures of the team. “Discipline will be part of me and the team.We need players who will be part of the system and I do not want segregation.The players who call themselves masters of the team will not be considered because we need unity in the team,” he said.He referred to former Warriors midfielder Quinton Jacobs who made statements to the press criticising the way the team was run.Jacobs, who was not called up for the Libya qualifying match last weekend, said he was used in the wrong position during the away match against Libya and blamed the coaches for using a playing format that did not fit the style of play of some players.Jacobs said the coaches should take the blame for the loss because of the wrong tactics they used during the Libya game in Tripoli, which Namibia lost 2-1.Bamfuchile yesterday said it was unacceptable for players to make use of the press instead of following the correct channels.He said he knew of a lot of bad things that the players had done, but he never ran to the press.”If they have problems with me, they should report me to my bosses.Not the press.The press do not select the team,” he said.He said it was important for players to iron out issues with the coaches before pursuing other channels.He said Jacobs would still be considered for the national side in future, but would not be part of the team during the upcoming match against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Windhoek on June 16.When asked about the status of Razundara Tjikuzu, Bamfuchile said he would also not be considered until he aplogised to the technical team in writing.Tjikuzu jumped camp during the Cosafa Castle Cup matches last year and was asked to apologise in writing.He has not apologised to date.”His arrogance not to apologise also hardens our hearts not to consider him for the team,” said Bamfuchile.Tjikuzu played professional football in Turkey, but is currently reported to have been clubless after his contract expired, while Jacobs plays for first-division side Brune FC in Norway.Meanwhile, Namibia Football Association (NFA) spokesperson Beau Kauta says it has been decided that no player from the current team in camp will be allowed to speak to the media.He said the players could only do that if the team manager Tim Isaacs was informed of any interviews.He said players tended to make irresponsible statements and this had tarnished the image of the coaching staff.”Players should remember that they are national assets and they need to behave as such,” he said.Bamfuchile confirmed that Eleven Arrows midfielder Rudolph Bester has joined the team after recovering from an ankle injury.He said there were no further additions apart from Bester and that the current squad would be kept.He said this week the players would be working on endurance, while tactics would come into play next week.The Brave Warriors are expected to play a warm-up match against the visiting Angolan league champions, Premeiro De Agosto, on Friday.The match
