Cell One launch at coast has positive impact on local industries

MOBILE operator Cell One’s entry into the coastal market will have a positive and far-reaching impact – especially when it comes to investment and job creation.

This was said by Erongo Governor Samuel Nuuyoma when he opened Cell One’s new shop at Walvis Bay on Friday. He said the launch of Cell One would lead to new innovations and fresh perspectives that would contribute to the further development of the telecommunications sector, and inevitably result in the attraction of direct foreign investment.Cell One’s network is being rolled out in phases, with the hope to cover 90 per cent of Namibia by the end of this year.According to Nuuyoma, Erongo’s major industries such as mining, fishing and tourism would greatly benefit from development in telecommunication technology.Cell One’s coastal network covers Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Henties Bay.According to Cell One’s CEO, Lars-Christian Iuel, the coastal towns play a crucial role in Namibia’s economy, especially through trade, commerce, tourism and fishing. He said Walvis Bay specifically enhances trade relations by serving as a hub of trade between southern Africa and the rest of the world.”Cell One is proud to now be part of this hub of Namibia’s economic activity at the coast,” Iuel said.He said the launch of Cell One would lead to new innovations and fresh perspectives that would contribute to the further development of the telecommunications sector, and inevitably result in the attraction of direct foreign investment.Cell One’s network is being rolled out in phases, with the hope to cover 90 per cent of Namibia by the end of this year.According to Nuuyoma, Erongo’s major industries such as mining, fishing and tourism would greatly benefit from development in telecommunication technology.Cell One’s coastal network covers Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Henties Bay.According to Cell One’s CEO, Lars-Christian Iuel, the coastal towns play a crucial role in Namibia’s economy, especially through trade, commerce, tourism and fishing. He said Walvis Bay specifically enhances trade relations by serving as a hub of trade between southern Africa and the rest of the world.”Cell One is proud to now be part of this hub of Namibia’s economic activity at the coast,” Iuel said.
