Zimbabwe beat Namibia by 42 runs to take a 3-0 lead in their Women’s u19 T20 series in Windhoek on Wednesday.

Despite suffering their third successive defeat, it was a much better performance by the Namibian u19 Capricorn Eagles, which will give them confidence for the remaining two matches in the series today and tomorrow.

They lost the opening encounter by 96 runs on Monday, before suffering a 101-run defeat on Tuesday.

In both those matches, Namibia gave poor batting displays as Zimbabwe’s bowlers skittled them out for low scores, with Namibia scoring 35 all out on Monday, while they were all out for 43 on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, however, Namibia’s batters showed a bit more resolve as they scored 101 for six wickets in their 20 overs, but it was not enough as Zimbabwe romped to another comfortable win.

Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 143 for five wickets, with Beloved Biza once again their star batter, scoring 57 off 49 balls (7×4), while Kelis Ndhlovu added 38 off 28 balls (7×4). Biza has now scored 192 runs in total at an average of 64,00 after knocks of 62 and 73 in her first two matches. Mekelaye Mwatile was Namibia’s best bowler, taking two wickets for 29 runs.

Namibia replied with 101/6, with Estelle van der Merwe scoring a brisk 31 off 30 balls (6×4), while Mwatile scored 29 not out off 41 balls (2×4).

Chipo Moyo took two wickets for 15 runs for Zimbabwe.
