Eight arrested in ‘witchcraft’ assault

A woman (67) was chased and attacked with sticks by villagers at Onethindi at Iikango on Friday for allegedly being a witch.

The woman was also accused of poisoning her cuca shop customers.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the villagers also burned some belongings taken from the woman’s shebeen.

“The incident was attended to by the police after they were alerted. They took the victim to Onandjokwe State Hospital,” she says.

The main suspect in the indicent has not been arrested yet, Shikwambi says.

However, eight Iikango villagers have been arrested.

“Investigations continue,” Shikwambi says.
