Zimbabwe make 6-0 clean sweep

Zimbabwe made a 6-0 clean sweep of their u19 women T20 international series against Namibia when they won the sixth and final match by 40 runs on Sunday.

Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 104 for six wickets off their 20 overs before dismissing Namibia for 64 runs.

In Zimbabwe’s innings, Runyararo Pasipanodya led the way with 42 not out off 44 balls (4×4), while Beloved Biza scored 19 and Kelis Ndhlovu 15. 

Mekelaye Mwatile was Namibia’s best bowler, taking two wickets for 22 runs, while Keira Schoeman (1/26), Unombuiro Kanjosa (1/11) and Sonja Siepker (1/11) took one wicket each.

In Namibia’s innings, Zimbabwe’s bowlers once again held the upper hand as the wickets fell at regular intervals. Only two batters managed to reach double figures, namely Mwatile with 10 and Veronika Tobias with 18, before the whole team was out for 64 with 43 balls remaining. 

Ndhlovu was Zimbabwe’s best bowler, taking four wickets for 12 runs, while Buhlebenkosi Maposa took three wickets for five runs.

Biza was the star batter of the series, scoring a total of 292 runs at an average of 73,00, followed by Pasipanodya with 121 runs at an average of 30,25 and Ndhlovu (113 runs at an average of 22,60), while Mwatile was Namibia’s top batter with 89 runs at an average of 11,20.

Ndhlovu was the best bowler of the series, taking 16 wickets for 55 runs at an average of 3,44, followed by compatriots Chipo Moyo (12 wickets for 65 runs, average 5,42) and Kudzai Chigora (seven wickets for 49 runs, average 7,00.)

Kanjosa was Namibia’s best bowler with four wickets for 113 runs at an average of 28,25, while Mwatile took four wickets for 135 runs at an average of 33,75.
