AUAS Motors expanded their portfolio into the agricultural sector by now selling Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) tractors and equipment like ploughs and planters, to mention a few.
The range is focused on smaller, communal farmers that need more affordable, yet easily maintained tractors that can be used for almost any task.
With its tracks dating back to the 1960s, TAFE is one of the world’s largest farm implement manufacturers in India.
The tractors are all equipped with key-operated starters fitted with a neutral safety function.
According to Auas Motors’s Wilhelm Rademeyer, the key to ensuring an affordable, yet reliable tractor was simplicity throughout the entire design.
“As we all know, the motor industry is a continuously changing industry, and we had the opportunity to make TAFE part of our portfolio, and we asked why not? Namibia is, after all, an agricultural country,” Rademeyer says.
Describing the tractors as basic and easy to maintain and operate, Rademeyer says they are the ideal product for the local market.
Rademeyer says they are part of a bigger South African-based group focusing on farming implements, thus almost any implement is readily available to the Namibian market.
Like any new product – in this case not so new on the local market – sales and aftersales services will be handled through the dealership, and like all their other brands, like Isuzu and Suzuki, services will be delivered nationwide.
As the brand is still new at the dealer, there are some challenges in delivering to certain parts of the country, but Rademeyer says they are hard at work to find solutions, especially given their aim is to have at least one tractor at each of their branches.
The range consists of around 10 different models and they are available either in 2×4 or 4×4.
To ensure TAFE caters to almost any need for medium, small, substance and communal farmers, their engines are easy to maintain, and engine sizes range from 3 to 4 cylinder-diesel engines, delivering up to a 100 horsepower.
Transmissions are also available in various sizes and comes up to 12 forward and 4-reverse speed transmissions.
The bigger models can be fitted with various accessories to be used by smaller construction companies.
Some of the bigger and more advanced models come standard with differential locks, foot throttle, hand operating parking brake, tool box, spring suspension seat and chain stabiliser kit.
Some are also fitted with an instrument cluster indicating the hour revs per minute meter, a coolant temperature meter, fuel gauge, indicator for high beam, battery charging and oil and low fuel indicators, to mention a few.
