Miss Teen Namibia 2023 Oriana Ribeiro is currently in India representing the country at the Miss Teen International pageant.
Ribeiro left the country on 28 June for the annual beauty pageant.
Miss Teen International is a prestigious pageant for teenage girls from around the world between the ages of 13 and 19, showcasing their beauty, intelligence, talent and poise on a global stage.
The pageant aims to empower contestants and provide them with a platform to express their individuality, leadership skills and philanthropic endeavours.
It emphasises the importance of education, personal growth and community involvement.
Miss Teen International is the world’s biggest teen pageant, owned by Glamanand Entertainment, based in India.
The competition typically consists of several rounds, including personal interviews, evening gown presentations, talent performances and a final question-and-answer session.
Ribeiro says winning the crown would be life-changing.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be representing the Land of the Brave,” Ribeiro says of her first pageant outside Namibia.
Miss Namibia Organisation chief executive Umbi Karuaihe-Upi says Ribeiro’s experience thus far has been amazing.
“They took a road trip to Jaipur, also known as the Pink City, where they engaged in various pageant related activities. The highlight to date was when they visited the famous Taj Mahal in Agra,” Karuaihe-Upi says.
Karuaihe-Upi believes Ribeiro is physically and mentally well prepared for the pageant, after being assisted by various talented individuals.
“Miss Namibia 2023 Jameela /Uiras helped her and advised her. She even assisted with the packing, slept over and saw her off at the airport. The Miss Namibia Organisation team put great effort into her preparations since day one. This is a team effort that requires skills, expertise, effort and passion. She is particularly looking forward to the interview section, as you know she is very intelligent and articulate. I am very proud of her,” Karuaihe-Upi says.
She adds that the Miss Namibia Organisation is happy to promote Namibian culture, tourism and the Namibian narrative in a positive way in India.
“We have to create a change that will be meaningful and long lasting. What I truly appreciate is the unity we create within our country when the entire Namibian nation proudly rallies behind Namibian beauty delegates,” Karuaihe-Upi says.
