Two men arrested for conspiring to poach rhinos

Two men were arrested at Oshakati on Thursday for allegedly conspiring to poach rhinos in Etosha National Park.

This was said by Oshana police regional commander commissioner Naftal Sakaria on Friday.

The men, aged 35 and 33, were found in possession of two hunting rifles and ammunition during a sting operation conducted by the police.

Sakaria said the police received a tip-off about two individuals traveling from Otjiwarongo to Oshakati with hunting rifles hidden in a bag.

He said the suspects were apprehended at a filling station at Oshakati West after a stakeout.

The rifles and ammunition were found during a search of the vehicle the suspects were traveling in, Sakaria said.

“They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday,” he said.
