Parliament remembers Hanse-Himarwa

The National Assembly has expressed sorrow at the death of former parliamentarian Katrina Hanse-Himarwa.

Hanse-Himarwa died at the age of 57 in a Windhoek hospital on Sunday.

Speaker of the National Assembly Peter Katjavivi in a statement on Sunday said the country has lost a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the nation would leave a lasting legacy.

“Her leadership in education and governance has had a profound impact,” he said.

Katjavivi said Hanse-Himarwa dedicated her career to education and public service from her time as teacher and school principal to serving as Hardap governor.

“As minister, she led with vision and spearheaded significant educational reforms.”

The speaker said the National Assembly conveys its heartfelt sympathy to Hanse-Himarwa’s family, friends, colleagues, and the people of Namibia.

“Her passion for education and her commitment to improving lives will be fondly remembered and cherished,” he said.
