A procession of former education minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa’s body is expected to commence on Tuesday morning from Windhoek’s Soweto market, the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture has confirmed.
School children will have the chance to pay their respects by standing along selected streets in Windhoek, while similar tributes will take place at Rehoboth and Kalkrand.
The ministry further indicates that minister Anna Nghipondoka has granted permission to release pupils from surrounding schools to form a guard of honour along the designated routes in the Khomas and Hardap regions.
The Office of the Minister in the Presidency has also indicated that Hanse-Himarwa will receive a state funeral, while the family will decide on the place and date of her burial.
