A man with epilepsy has drowned in the Okavango River while washing his clothes.
This took place at Mbapuka village in the Kavango East region’s Mukwe constituency on Wednesday.
Julius Katarayo (28) is suspected to have had a seizure at the time of the incident. Mukwe constituency councillor and Kavango East regional chairperson Damian Maghambayi says Katarayo’s family was home when he went to the river.
“When the aunt arrived at the river to fetch water, she found the body floating. “The family has confirmed the deceased had epilepsy,” Maghambayi says.
Kavango East deputy commissioner Eino Nambahu has confirmed that Katarayo’s family has told the police he had epilepsy.
“The incident report of drowning has been recorded at Mukwe Police Station on 14 August at about 12h00.
“No foul play is suspected in this matter, and police investigations continue.”
