Mbumba jets to Zimbabwe for SADC summit

President Nangolo Mbumba will participate in the 44th Ordinary Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Zimbabwe on Friday.

Mbumba left Namibia on Thursday afternoon ahead of the summit.

The summit for heads of state and government will look at promoting innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development towards an industrialised SADC.

In a media statement issued on Thursday, the presidency said Mbumba will also join the Organ Troika Summit.

“The Organ Troika Summit will deliberate on the region’s political and security situation, including the progress report on the SADC Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the implementation of the drawdown and withdrawal plan of the SADC Mission in Mozambique,” noted the statement.

The president is expected to return to Namibia on Sunday.
