IN any state, political instability and conflicts are fuelled by less independent thinkers and disgruntled power-hungry politicians who see politics as a major source of their livelihoods.
It is a well-established fact that Namibia lacks intellectual political leadership, particularly within the ruling party. It is very surprising that the leaders who took oath to defend the Constitution of the Republic are the same ones turning against it.They preach and practice intolerance toward other political parties who have equal rights as per the Constitution.And this bad-mouthing against others is what instigates chaos among the vulnerable and desperate communities in Namibia.This situation is compromising economic development and may also reverse the gains of political independence that the country enjoys to date.The recent stopping of one opposition party to hold its rally at a municipal plot is a case for concern.The reasons given by the senior ruling party leaders worries me.Can Namibia ever go forward under such climate of leadership? According to Jerry Ekandjo, if you clear a piece of land then that means it is yours and no one else can use it.Even being a former minister of lands did not teach him land laws.According to Ms Ithana, if you hold a meeting in the village you must inform the village headman.Yes this is true but Meme, how can you compare traditional authority and local authority laws?
