SEVERAL car dealers in Windhoek are claiming that the National Authority of Traffic Inspection Services (Natis) is hampering their business by delaying the issuing of roadworthy certificates.
Vehicles have to get road worthy certificates before they are sold. Yesterday morning, representatives of various car dealers in Windhoek held a meeting with Natis officials to air their concerns.Car dealer Peter Senekal of Spes Bona Motors told The Namibian that long queues of vehicles were seen at Natis for the last two weeks.Natis Manager Filex Tjozongoro told the dealers that Natis was understaffed at the moment because three of its employees had been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission and two had been fired.Tjozongoro said they would solve the problem by bringing in people from other departments to help out at the Roadworthy Department. He said they were also considering opening the Natis offices on Saturday mornings so that more customers can be attended to.About 30 representatives from car dealers such as Zimmerman Garage, Auto City, Pupkewitz Automark, Zeda Car Sales, Investment Cars, Spes Bona Used and Market Motors attended the meeting.Yesterday morning, representatives of various car dealers in Windhoek held a meeting with Natis officials to air their concerns.Car dealer Peter Senekal of Spes Bona Motors told The Namibian that long queues of vehicles were seen at Natis for the last two weeks.Natis Manager Filex Tjozongoro told the dealers that Natis was understaffed at the moment because three of its employees had been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission and two had been fired.Tjozongoro said they would solve the problem by bringing in people from other departments to help out at the Roadworthy Department. He said they were also considering opening the Natis offices on Saturday mornings so that more customers can be attended to.About 30 representatives from car dealers such as Zimmerman Garage, Auto City, Pupkewitz Automark, Zeda Car Sales, Investment Cars, Spes Bona Used and Market Motors attended the meeting.
