THE Omusati Governor, Sacky Kayone, and a delegation of councillors and officials from the Omusati Regional Council yesterday paid a courtesy call on the chairman of the National Council, Asser Kapere, to discuss regional development.
The Governor described the purpose of their visit to the National Council as having emanated from the Omusati Regional Council’s project on Human Resources Development, particularly with regard to enhancing the performance of the council using various training initiatives. As such, the National Council had been identified as an institution that would add value to the skills of the group through information sharing and exposure missions to improve the overall performance of the Regional Council.Various topics were addressed at the meeting, including how provisions for subcommittees are made, monitoring and evaluation systems, communication methods between the National Assembly and the National Council, and how best to deal with motions at the regional level given that training in this regard had never been undergone.”We want a sound Council with sound outputs,” Kayone said, emphasising the keen interest of his delegation in drawing lessons from the National Council’s experiences.Kapere welcomed the Omusati Regional Council’s efforts to improve their skills capacities, and encouraged the delegation to communicate with their two members represented on the National Council.
