AS a Namibian citizen I think we have come a long way since Independence.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a political person. We still have a long way to go to reach our goals of Vision 2030.At least we know where we want to be in the year 2030, but the question is how do we get there. To be honest, I don’t know much about Vision 2030, and that’s only me.So the question is how many more people out there are not aware of what Vision 2030 really entails? My Vision I have a vision of where I see Namibians taking up higher positions in companies; A vision of where more and more young Namibians create sustainable multimillion-dollar companies; A vision where Namibia sets the benchmark for other countries; A vision where Namibia produces young scientists; A vision where Namibians produce electronic engineering products, etc. When it comes to education I strongly feel that we can do better.I’m not an expert in the field, but it is possible.I envision that our education system will only go up Grade 10 and after that should branch off in pre-university, technikon or college. Now this can only be done given that the students or learners know what they want to become in future. This part is difficult, but not too difficult. If you empower the people at the bottom, the guys at the top will be forced to empower themselves with new and current skills.I see this as having a snowballing effect or a chain reaction.Vision: For Namibia to set the standard of being the first to replace Grade 11 and 12 for a pre-tertiary system; Children to start school at an earlier stage than at the age of 7; Pre-primary learners to do Grade 1 work.Current Situation You have to finish Grade 12 before starting tertiary; Children have to wait till 7 before starting school.Proposal: Empower the parents to prepare the children for this transition; Have a proper structure on how to approach this objective; Do proper research on what is best practice towards reaching this objective; Set standards and milestones. What’s in it for us? Namibia will produce more people with global standards; Namibia will set the standard for others to follow; Namibia will have a sustainable future; For Namibians poverty will slowly die out and become something of the past; Namibia will have fewer people roaming around looking for work and rather be starting up companies. There is so much potential in Namibia.Armando Nakwafila Via e-mailWe still have a long way to go to reach our goals of Vision 2030.At least we know where we want to be in the year 2030, but the question is how do we get there. To be honest, I don’t know much about Vision 2030, and that’s only me.So the question is how many more people out there are not aware of what Vision 2030 really entails?
