Perth-based Mount Burgess Mining says it plans to shortly drill a new exploration campaign on its Tsumkwe diamond exploration project in Namibia.
Addressing the second day in Perth of the 2008 Paydirt World Diamond Conference, Burgess Mining chairman Nigel Forrester said the drill start date was now only reliant on the completion of access negotiations with landowners. “We have concluded three access deals and are trying to get all deals concluded shortly and are then ready to go in and drill several aero magnetic targets,” Forrester said.”These are very recent magnetics and as such we are confident we can drill all targets in the one campaign.”The tenement is in one of the most highly prospective diamond exploration areas in Namibia and we are confident of finding significant quantities of kimberlitic minerals.”The Tsumkwe exploration project is on the border with Botswana.Mt Burgess also owns a second Namibian diamond opportunity. The Hardap area covers the sources of the Tsauchab River – with Forrester saying Burgess fs interest was whether the Meob Bay alluvial diamond deposits had been transported down the river from the drill target areas. He said the company’s forward diamond exploration in Namibia would not cost large amounts of money, as all the groundwork had been done to convince the company kimberlites were evident in the region and exploration from here on would mainly consist of drilling kimberlite targets.- Media release from David Skinner”We have concluded three access deals and are trying to get all deals concluded shortly and are then ready to go in and drill several aero magnetic targets,” Forrester said.”These are very recent magnetics and as such we are confident we can drill all targets in the one campaign.”The tenement is in one of the most highly prospective diamond exploration areas in Namibia and we are confident of finding significant quantities of kimberlitic minerals.”The Tsumkwe exploration project is on the border with Botswana.Mt Burgess also owns a second Namibian diamond opportunity. The Hardap area covers the sources of the Tsauchab River – with Forrester saying Burgess fs interest was whether the Meob Bay alluvial diamond deposits had been transported down the river from the drill target areas. He said the company’s forward diamond exploration in Namibia would not cost large amounts of money, as all the groundwork had been done to convince the company kimberlites were evident in the region and exploration from here on would mainly consist of drilling kimberlite targets.- Media release from David Skinner
