* NAMIBIANS! It`s time we start to stop tribalism, violence, corruption and evil if we want this country to develop.
* ‘IF you do not know where you are going, any road can take you there.’ I am only hoping that the Namibian Government leadership knows where it wants to take the nation in the phase of increased poverty and the disappearance of millions and millions of dollars without trace – ODC, AVID, MOD (Ministry of Defence), MOF (Ministry of Finance) and the list goes on. Let us learn to care for one another as citizens, please Namibians.Food For Thought* SEEMS like the accused in the Nuctech ‘scam’ have already been found guilty in the court of public opinion! Shame on us!* MR Amukwiyu! Let us buy in Onambango stores because they are very cheap, so that we can save money and afford to contribute to the fine for those Swapo people who get fined for opening their mouths irresponsibly like yourself and those that are fined by law. Mr Ngurare asked us to contribute N$1.Health Matters* SINCE swine flu has been discovered in this small country, with a small population, they should check out the overcrowded places, like the Polytechnic of Namibia. * I HAVE flu now like every year in winter. I am still waiting for somebody to tell what’s different about the symptoms of swine flu?- According to the information issued to visitors arriving in Namibia, if you have the usual flu symptoms, a fever of over 38C, vomiting and diarrhoea, seek medical care. – Newsdesk* I AM a medical doctor recently exposed to HIV from an occupational accidental needle prick. I humbly invite other health workers who have gone or going through similar experience to anonymously share their testimony with me on 0855738975. I envisage establishing a network of such previous and future exposed health workers for Namibia. Call or SMS. Warm regards.- Dr JMBouquets And BrickbatsA living legend* PENSIONERS throughout our land salute Madiba a true father of africa. Puts the past into history works for the future.* I WOULD like to thank the Maria Mwengere Secondary School in the Kavango Region for organising the reunion gala dinner on July 11. The event was organised to raise funds to build a school hall. The evening was a great success where the Deputy Minister of Finance, the hompa Matumbo Ribebe and other officials gave speeches. I call upon other schools to follow this example of fundraising instead of waiting for the government to do everything for them. I thank you Mr Kudumo as the principal and Mr Mutangara, as the organiser.- A Tchambasuku, former learner* CONGRATULATIONS Mr Dineinge Sheya with regard to your school. Haimbili Haufiku SSS attaining first position in the whole region. Keep it up my brother. You have Ohangwena Region at heart.* CONGRATULATIONS Haimbili Haufiku for coming first in the Bank of Namibia school competition! You have shown that good education also exists in the North and not just in the Khomas Region as perceived by many. – HN* LUCKY Shipanga, Sandro deGouveia, the entire management of Blue Waters, thank you very much. We are proud of you.* THE Namibian Law Society should step in and educate Namibians on legal issues and costs involved and how to deal with different issues like bad debt, divorce etc.- Maria, Swakopmund* WHY are you at The Namibian so slow with your daily (Friday) update on your website?- The online team has recently experienced changes in its staff department and the resulting reorganisation has caused some hiccoughs. The situation should be remedied this week. – Newsdesk* WITH reference to the Namibian of July 17 2009, pages 8 and 9, I would like to express appreciation of all those views, under the various topics. Hail the writers. Let the realities surface! The elite tribe; everybody else is secondhand! NO, NO, NO pleaseWhat The Shop, Armas!* MR (Armas) Amukwiyu has embarrassed the honest Swapo members. Telling people not to buy from opposition members’ shops is totally uncalled for. Shops like Onambango have more than 200 workers. You are saying you want to see it bankrupt, not even caring about the employment that it offers. Yet you claim that Swapo has people at heart? This is a big contradiction of your claims. In fact, we buy from cheaper shops, regardless of political affiliation. Shame on you!* IT’S high time for Swapo to call Armas Amukwiyu to order. He is number one in creating the spirit of divisions and hatred among the Namibian people. * IT does not make any sense to encourage people not to buy from shops owned by opposition members. Most big supermarkets in this country are owned by foreigners and white Namibians but you can always see our VIPs with trollies buying from these shops I wonder if the owners of these supermarkets vote, let alone for the ruling party. Please let us leave politics out of business and investment and let’s not destroy ourselves because of politics. We will only strengthen foreigners and they will control our economy again. That is bad politics.* IF (Armas) Amukwiyu really cared for the people as he claims to, he should let people buy in shops where they can save. How can you tell people not to buy from shops of RDP members. What a shame! Our party is being criticised because of people like you. You are a shame for honest Swapo members. Shame on you.* WHAT is the NCCI’s reaction toward comments that Armas Amukwiyu made over the weekend, telling people not to buy from RDP people’s shops? Politics* DR H Geingob, it is so disheartening that a person of your stature tolerated the unbecoming language of the Otjikoto leadership at the party rally. It is such a pity! A spark can easily burn down the forest!- Sheya* WHILE we justifiably laud the achievements of the glorious Cuban revolution, we should note that there is a strict law against naming public roads, buildings, airports, hospitals, etc after living persons. There are no properties or landmarks named after living persons in Cuba! Also, Fidel Castro earns U$30 per month, and he was a giant in the revolution! Compare that with what goes on in Namibia.General* THE Basic Income Grant is possible and feasible in Namibia as is clear in the Assessment Report, April 2009. BIG Coalition, we need a big ‘National Walk’ to convince our politicians, please!* WE must stop calling the new national enterprise ‘corruption’ and correctly call it ‘theft’ since this is what the robbers are up to. And they are not stealing government funds, but money that belongs to the people of Namibia.* SOME orphans never get anything because of death certificates that were lost in 2000.Why?In And From the Regions* DEAR countrymen and women, let us stand up and convince the government to return the dispossessed cattle of the Gam people. Even though they were wrong, this punishment is tantamount to killing them. Government should think of another punishment and return their cattle. They have thus far been suffering. The cattle have been their only means of surviving. Currently women who have just had babies are sleeping in shacks made of boxes, children eat maize soup without milk. Children’s tummies are out as a sign of hunger. Where are the school fees to come from? Personally I beg our good government to respond positively to the call of our people, to return their cattle, then give a proper punishment. In the name of our good Lord. – Jeomba SR, 0maruru* ONGWEDIVA Town Council why do you overcharge for water, rates and taxes compared to the Oshakati Municipality? We, the Ongwediva residents, feel like we are paying for mineral water. Hear our call!- Frustrated Ratepayers! Unsightly wherever they are* THE refuse dump at Otavi is a serious health risk. Health inspectors please intervene. The Otavi Village Council has denied it but come and see for yourself. * WE, Omulunga Radio’s customers at Okahao area like listening to your programmes, but Omulunga is not aired here. Please do something. – Concerned customerRunning The Show* MINISTER Konjore: In view of the upcoming sport events – the 2010 World Cup and the African Nations Cup – did you include a strategic budgetary provision to have the necessary infrastructure in place. The youth and the soccer-thirsty nation want to know.* TO the Minister of Health, please do something to the salaries of drivers in your ministry. N$2 582,00 is not enough. With the current global financial crisis, we can no longer feed our families. Please adjust.- Health worker, Ohangwena RegionLabour Issues* NAPWU, when are you going to finish with the regrading of the clerks?* MOST of the interviews done for posts in the public and private sector is just for formality’s sake. Why invite people for interviews while the panel knows who they want anyway? The confidentiality involved promotes corruption.- HD ACC Alert* ACC, when are you going to look into the new churches? Some of them are taking money from the poor and feeding it to their bank accounts.Education* TO (Education) Minister (Nangolo) Mumba there are a lot of racist situations in schools. Please we want equal treatment in Namibia. We can name schools.* HAMU, please come to our rescue! Last year we had a talk show competition in Omaruru where we won a computer for our school. Until now we haven’t received the computer. We are just wondering what’s going on in the Windhoek regional office.- Concerned learners
