Pohamba inaugurates N$30 million Tunacor factory

A NEW N$30 million fish processing factory opened by Tunacor at Walvis Bay has increased the company’s investment at the harbour town to N$150 million over two years.

The factory was officially inaugurated by President Hifikepunye Pohamba on last week.’This investment comes in a time of global economic turmoil, and yet this company continues to show confidence in the industry,’ Pohamba said.He also praised the company for continuing to play a lead role in the catching, processing and exporting of Namibian fish products for over 55 years.Through its activities, the President said, the company adds value to the Namibian fishing industry, provides employment to more than a thousand people, and earns foreign income.Tunacor Managing Director, Antonio Marino said the company’s success was due to its ‘family of workers’.’We have 1 000 hearts sharing the same value – to make Tunacor the best fish factory in Africa – and this is what all of us are working together for,’ he said.Marino said more investments were in the pipeline.adam@namibian.com.na
