SWAPO’s Politburo and the Central Committee are to meet this week to finalise the party’s manifesto for the November presidential and national elections.
The ruling party was working towards launching its manifesto last weekend but has not managed to have it approved by its two top structures in time for the grand launch planned to coincide with a star rally. The manifesto was a result of several meetings by the party’s think tank, chaired by Fisheries Minister Abraham Iyambo, which started off by reviewing the 2004 manifesto first.Sources said the meetings will also discuss strategies for the party’s election campaign as President Hifikepunye Pohamba intensifies his efforts for a second presidential term.
