Pool growing in Erongo Region

A NEW league system has been established in the Erongo Region to grade players in an effort to improve the overall standard of pool in the area. The game is one of the fastest growing and most popular sports at the coast.

The Desert Inn Club was established four years ago in Walvis Bay and now moves are afoot to develop the game even further.About a year ago, in June 2009, Cyril Möller, a former Windhoek player, helped form the Erongo Pool Association (EPA). Currently there are only two clubs registered, Rumours Pool Club and the Desert Inn Pool Club, which both have A and B teams.’It is the aim of the EPA to enrol as many players as possible and to broaden play throughout the Erongo Region. The talent is there but it needs to be developed,’ said Möller. The EPA has structured a league which is divided into four stages a year, in which team and individual rankings will take place to establish overall champions. The EPA has appealed for sponsors and new players to link up with the organisation. The contact person is Eddy Andrews at 0812480075.
