New flag for Police

THE Namibian Police will get a new flag, which will be inaugurated on Police Day in November.

The current Namibian Police flag was approved by Cabinet in 1991. Since then the line Ministry has reviewed the flag and found that it does not conform with the national flag.According to the latest Cabinet decisions, published on Friday, it was decided that when displayed, the Namibia Police flag should be immediately associated with the national flag and that was only possible if the national flag was part of the Police flag.’This practice is already adopted by the Namibian Prison Service and the Namibia Defence Force and it was felt that the Namibian Police should follow suit, thus a new Namibian Police Force flag was developed,’ the statement said. The Ministry of Safety and Security wants to hoist the new flag on November 26, the annual Namibian Police Force Day. Cabinet gave permission to the Ministry of Safety and Security to purchase 500 of the new flags.
