Rape, suicide, accidents the ‘order of the day’

POLICE in the Ohangwena Region are searching for a known suspect who is alleged to have raped a seven-year-old girl at Okalyafengwa village on Sunday a week ago, the Police reported at the end of last week.

* A 16-year-old boy was arrested at Odimbwa village in the Ohangwena Region last week and charged with raping a 20-year-old woman at the village on Wednesday afternoon.* Police at Usakos are searching for the suspect in a rape case earlier this year. The victim is a six-year-old girl.* A burst tyre landed two people in hospital on Tuesday last week, after the car they were travelling in overturned.The accident happened near Gobabis, along the road between the town and Drimiopsis, at around 09h00. The two passengers sustained serious injuries, while the driver was slightly injured, the Police reported at the end of last week.* A 92-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on Wednesday. Police report that Nahambo Kamelele hanged herself with a rope in her bedroom at Outapi in northern Namibia.* A case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened against the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser at Rundu, after he apparently hit a cyclist on Tuesday morning.The incident happened at the town’s Tutungeni location.* Thieves who broke into an apartment on Tsumeb’s Inland Street on Tuesday made off with more than N$150 000 worth of property, including cash. The suspects broke the burglar bars to gain entry.* In the North, Police at Eenhana are investigating the cause of death of a one-month-old baby who died on Tuesday night while sleeping next to his mother. The child lived at Oshaango village in the Ohangwena Region.* More than N$100 000 worth of stock and money were stolen from NamPost’s Khorixas offices last weekend. Police there report that the items were stolen during a break-in that took place either that Friday night or Saturday morning.Items stolen include cash of N$97 557,79, Telecards worth N$5 260, recharge vouchers worth N$1 700, Flexicall recharge cards valued at N$5 050 and a pistol.* A man was shot in the backside while his partner also sustained slight injuries after unknown suspects broke into their house on Saturday.According to the Police, the suspects used an unknown object to break into the home at Opuwo at around 23h00, stealing N$2 500 from the house.* Police are investigating the cause of death of Jan Mary Namupala Kasita (27), who was found dead in a toilet at Oranjemund’s Odas Stadium on Thursday morning a week ago, the Police reported last week. * The Police also reported that a 51-year-old man died in Windhoek’s Ausspannplatz area on Thursday night, also a week ago, after apparently falling from a motorcycle.* An argument between two men at Okango town in the Ohangwena Region last Saturday resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man who was hit in the head with a rock.A suspect was arrested.* A man reported missing in the Kavango Region earlier this month was discovered dead at Kayanga village near Rundu 10 days ago.Police say Kafuro Muronga (31) went missing on July 16.The cause of death is still under investigation.* Paulus Nyama (60), a villager from Ndiyona village in the Kavango Region, died on Thursday a week ago after falling from a bakkie.
