Father back in Keetmans court over son’s death

A MAN accused of shooting dead his son made a brief appearance in the Keetmanshoop Divisional Court again on a charge of murder yesterday.

Jakobus Appollus (69) allegedly shot his son, Patricio Appollus, through the head at close range with a hunting rifle at Tses village in the South on February 2 2008. It is alleged that a row over money led to the fatal shooting. Earlier, the Police told The Namibian that the deceased allegedly started throwing stones at his father after he had refused to give him money. The father allegedly retaliated by fetching a rifle from his room and shooting at his son. Appollus’s case was postponed for plea and trial until 10 June next year. He remains free on bail of N$2 000. Kallie Le Roux represented Appollus while State Prosecutor Alexander Veiko prosecuted. luqman@namibian.com.na
