YB scoop Miss Hectas tourney

THE Keetmanshoop-based Southern Stream First Division outfit Young Beauties scooped the Miss Hecktas tournament after beating rivals Try Again 2-1 in a entertaining final match played at the J Stephanus Stadium at Keetmanshoop at the weekend. The halftime score was one all.

Young Beauties, also known as YB, were awarded a floating trophy and a cash prize of N$5 000 for their win, while Try Again pocketed N$3 000 as runners-up.
The crafty striker Udoo Hochobeb, who also scooped the Top Goal Scorer of the tournament award, opened the score line for Young Beauties when he capitalised on a defensive error and scored a cracker for his team in the 18th minute.
In the 33th minute, Dawid ‘Hotboot’ Lambert unleashed a fierce strike from a free kick outside the danger box to level the scoreboard.
Lambert, who played in the midfielder position, had to compete with talented youngster in the likes of Adre ‘Baggio’ Awasman and Xavier Boonstander who gave him no room to manoeuvre in the middle park.
Following another defensive error during the early minutes of the seconda half, Young Beauties substitute Gregorius Kukuri wasted a golden opportunity to extend the lead when his shot went past the upright.
In a counter-attack, Try Again’s striker nearly snatched a goal when he hit the crossbar with a diving header following a cross from the left flank.
Defender Christo Isaak dashed Try-Again’s hopes of winning the match when he sealed the winning goal in the 77th minute for his team through yet another defensive error.
In the dying minutes of the game, Try Again fought back for an equaliser, but luck was not on their side.
In their effort to level matters, Try Again pushed defender Sidney ‘Setos’ Brown, who failed to find the back of the net after he unleashed several long range shots in the dying minutes of the match.
Karas Governor Dawid Boois, who officiated the prize-giving ceremony, said the players had potential and more tournaments such as these should be staged to keep the youth from the streets. Raynold Kiewit of Young Beauties was awarded the Player of the Tournament award, while Try Again’s goalkeeper Ludwig Eiman scooped the Best Goalkeeper award.
