A floating dock that flooded at Walvis Bay on Monday, was successfully recovered with no one injured during the incident.
The floating dock belongs to the Namibia Drydock & Ship Repair (Namdock).
The company on Monday said the dock had been partially flooded due to strong under currents which damaged one of the tanks underneath the dock.
Namdock chief executive Albertus Kariko in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that there were no injuries associated with the incident.
He said assessments from the company’s environmental team have confirmed no environmental concerns from the dock’s partial flooding.
He assured the company’s customers that all assets on the dock are secure, and that operational activities resumed on Tuesday.
Namdock caters for drydock repairs and maintenance on large vessels within the Walvis Bay harbour.
