The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security says it is working to make Namibia the safest country in the world.
Home affairs minister Albert Kawana says this will be accomplished through its new customer service charter.
Kawana was speaking at the launch of the charter on Thursday.
The document details how the ministry promises to work with its customers.
Kawana said the purpose of the charter is to enable customers to receive the best of the ministry’s services by offering Namibians first-class service.
“We are not here to just launch another document, but to witness an assurance by this ministry to provide a yardstick in service provision on par with the first world,” he said.
The charter has been translated into Oshiwambo, Silozi, Rukwangali, Afrikaans, Otjiherero, Setswana, Khoekhoegowab and Braille.
Kawana said the ministry pledges to ensure that customer satisfaction is taken into account by asking what effect decisions would have on customers.
“These promises are in their domain, and we expect them to judge us based on what we promised them,” he said.
