The man who drowned in the Kavango region last Wednesday was buried on Heroes Day.
Julius Katarayo (28) drowned at Mbapuka village in the Kavango East region’s Mukwe constituency last week.
He is suspected to have had a seizure at the time of the incident.
An incident report was recorded at Mukwe Police Station.
Kavango East deputy commissioner Eino Nambahu says Katarayo’s family told the police he had epilepsy.
Mukwe constituency councillor and Kavango East regional chairperson Damian Maghambayi says Katarayo’s family was at home when he went to the river.
“When the aunt arrived at the river to fetch water, she found his body floating,” he says.
Katarayo’s uncle, Muhunguko Haikera, on Monday said Katarayo was a good and hard-working person.
He said living with a person with a chronic health condition such as epilepsy is hard.
“It’s not our will or negligence for him to lose his life in that matter, as other family members claim, saying ‘we didn’t care’ for him,” he said.
