Southern African airline Airlink is going ahead with plans to launch direct Cape Town-Gaborone flights from 1 April 2025.
The Botswana and South African regulatory authorities have confirmed that all the necessary approvals are in place.
Airlink chief executive and managing director Rodger Foster says they appreciate both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter, to allow Airlink to do what it does best.
“… which is connecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service. We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route,” he said.
He said Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel.
“We have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers, for an Airlink direct service between the two cities,” Foster added.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing Cape Town International Airport at 10h50 and arriving at Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 13h00.
The return service leaves Gaborone at 13h45 and lands in Cape Town at 16h00.
The airline will operate modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jets on the route.
