Miss Angola Namibia commits to community and cultural exchange

Second-year communications student Chantel Chipeio (20) was crowned Miss Angola-Namibia over the weekend.

The pageant, designed to strengthen cultural ties between Angola and Namibia, highlighted Chipeio’s dedication to social causes, which set her apart from the other contestants.

“Being crowned Miss Angola-Namibia is an honour. It’s an opportunity to represent both countries and contribute to meaningful change,” Chipeio said.

She began her modelling career last year, making her debut at the Mr and Ms Nust competition.

With a win in only her second pageant, Chipeio is committed to leveraging her budding career as a platform for social change.

Reflecting on her journey, Chipeio said the competition was both challenging and rewarding.

“The preparation was intense, from perfecting my walk to my public speaking skills. But the most rewarding part was meeting so many inspiring women and learning from them.”

During her reign, Chipeio plans to focus on issues close to her heart, particularly those affecting young women in both Angola and Namibia.

“I’m particularly passionate about education and empowerment. I plan to use this platform to advocate for better educational opportunities in underserved communities.”

In addition to her duties within Namibia, Chipeio will travel to Angola to further strengthen the cultural connection between the two nations.

“I’m excited to travel to Angola and engage with communities there. It’s a chance to learn, grow and share experiences that will benefit both countries,” she said.

She encourages other pageant contestants to remain determined and focused on their goals.

“Believe in yourself and never give up. This title is proof that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible,” she said.
