National Youth Council (NYC) of Namibia acting director Sircca Nghitila says the launch of its resource centre represents a brighter future for young people.
She was speaking at the launch of the resource centre at the NYC head office in Windhoek on Tuesday.
She said the resource centre will be a sanctuary for young people from underserved families, offering a space to learn, explore and acquire vital digital literacy skills.
“This is not merely about access to technology, it is about bridging gaps and breaking down barriers that many of our youth face daily,” Nghitila said.
She highlighted that the centre is particularly beneficial for job seekers.
According to Nghitila, the centre offers resources to create professional curriculum vitae, search for job opportunities and participate in online interviews and training programmes.
“For our youth organisations needing a dedicated space for their work, this centre will provide the environment they need for documentation and other essential tasks.”
The centre is equipped with 10 workstations, water dispensers and 10 laptops.
Speaking at the event, Bridgehead Group Holdings board member Simon Taapopi said the company supported the establishment of the resource centre with a donation of N$100 000 to “help young people access crucial information technology services, including printing and internet”.
