South African aviation company FlySafair will launch a flight service connecting Cape Town and Windhoek twice a week from 22 October.
Air Connect Namibia spokesperson Dan Kamati on Tuesday said the introduction of the route will increase regional integration and make it easier for both tourists and business travellers to explore the two southern African destinations.
“FlySafair will fly between Cape Town International Airport and Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek, twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays,” he said.
Kamati said the flight route will not only enhance access between the Namibian capital and South Africa’s ‘Mother City’, but will also provide consumers with increased choices when flying.
Cape Town is Namibia’s second largest international destination based on two-way passengers, with the increased capacity on the route set to further strengthen ties between the two cities.
“We are thrilled to welcome FlySafair’s new service, which will undoubtedly bring many benefits to our tourism and business sectors,” says Air Connect Namibia chairperson and Namibia Airports Company (NAC) chief executive Bisey /Uirab.
He says the new service will not only bolster travel between Windhoek and Cape Town, but also open up opportunities for greater cultural exchange and economic collaboration.
“This direct connection enhances our efforts to position Namibia as a must-visit destination for travellers from South Africa and beyond. We encourage both leisure and business visitors to take advantage of this convenient new service to discover the beauty, adventures and warm hospitality that Namibia has to offer,” says /Uirab.
Air Connect Namibia is a collaborative air service development initiative established this year and led by NAC to improve air access to the country.
Project stakeholders include NAC, Gondwana Collection, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, the Namibia Tourism Board and the City of Windhoek. – email: matthew@namibian.com.na
