Swapo has raised over N$16 million at its fundraising gala dinner in Windhoek on Friday.
The party’s deputy secretary general, Uahekua Herunga, confirmed this on Saturday morning.
“All this money will go towards the party’s campaign in all four corners of the country,” he said.
The dinner kicked off Swapo’s electoral college weekend, where delegates will decide who represents the party in the National Assembly.
It was attended by business people and politicians, including Namboer auctioneer Xico Coetzee, Millennium Group of Companies head Miguel Hamutenya, Nam-mic Financial Services Holdings former chief Walter Don, Letshego Namibia head Ester Kali, Namibia Airports Company chief executive Bisey Uirab, Environmental Investment Fund chief Benedict Libanda, and former deputy minister Piet van der Walt, among others.
