Swapo vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah thawed tensions at the party’s electoral congress by embracing all delegates as her favourites.
She was speaking at the opening of the congress (‘pot’) in Windhoek on Sunday.
“As your leader I want you to know you are all my favourites,” she said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah, the party’s presidential candidate for the November elections, told delegates to elect only the best among them.
“I want nothing but the very best of you to be elected,” she said.
She said party delegates should take themselves seriously and vote for the parliamentary party list, guided by Swapo’s constitution.
The vice president said the party’s rules and procedures dictate fair competition.
