President Nangolo Mbumba is expected to make his maiden presentation at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States, this week.
The UNGA kicked off on Tuesday and will also host the Summit for the Future.
According to the UN, the summit will unite leaders from across the globe to “redefine our path towards a brighter present and a more secure tomorrow”.
“President Nangolo Mbumba and chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Federal Republic of Germany will participate in the Summit for the Future, which will be held under the theme: ‘Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’,” State House has said in a statement.
The summit will take place from 20 to 23 September and will include various events, State House said.
The president is also expected to deliver statements during the opening session and interactive dialogues on diverse issues, such as enhancing the global system for current and future generations.
The UN has described the summit as an unparalleled occasion, presenting an opportunity to rebuild trust and showcase the power of international collaboration in addressing both current and emerging challenges.
“Building upon established frameworks such as the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the Summit of the Future delves into practical strategies for achieving our shared aspirations,” the UN says.
