Local musician DJ Siya teamed up with South African music group Dalom Kids to release the song, ‘Morena’, last week.
‘Morena’, which means God, is an upbeat song produced by Glo Solani, Silvia Tshanda of Dalom Music in South Africa and Champions League DJs.
The song is available for streaming and downloading on all major music platforms.
The fusion of unique sounds and genres, that is bound to leave no music enthusiast in their seat, is testament to the great collaboration between the DJ and the band.
With his distinct style of fusing deep house beats and Afrotech rhythms, DJ Siya – the man behind the hit song ‘Bovo’ – has been making waves in the electronic music scene. Meanwhile, Dalom Kids, with their decades-long career and award-winning catalogue, remain a mainstay of South Africa’s rich music culture.
DJ Siya, during a recent exclusive interview with The Namibian, expressed his excitement about the collaboration.
“Working with Dalom Kids has been an incredible experience. Since I was a teenager, their music has inspired me, so it feels strange to be in the studio with them now, making something unique,” he said.
Temi Dimplez, a gifted female artist, was also featured on the song, said DJ Siya.
“Working with her is always enjoyable, she has a lot of creativity,” he added.
DJ Siya’s trademark electronic beats and Dalom Kids’ unique blend of Afrojazz, traditional rhythms and modern rock create an enticing combination in ‘Morena’.
DJ Siya describes the song as a dance-floor anthem with catchy hooks, powerful vocals and an irresistible blend of old-school charm and new-age sound.
According to DJ Siya, shooting a music video for the song is in the works and will enhance the upbeat vibe of the track.
“It promises to be a visual feast, showcasing Namibia’s rich culture and artistic talent.”
DJ Siya said fans are responding well to the song so far, and seem to be really enjoying it.
“Anyone can dance or just listen to the song. Some people find the song to be quite moving, but we still need to give it time to develop gradually,” he added.
According to DJ Siya, ‘Morena’ will appear on his upcoming album, set to be released next month.
DJ Siya’s future plans include branching out internationally and hosting more events, especially with the release of a new album, he said.
He expressed his gratitude to Tony Mobile Safari for helping him spread his music and perform in various countries.
