Namibia Democratic Party (NDP) leader Martin Lukato says if elected to power, the party would make not sending children to school a crime.
He said this during the NDP’s manifesto launch on Sunday in Windhoek.
He said the party will implement free education for all from pre-primary to tertiary level.
“The NDP government will introduce free education, not free education on paper, but decolonized education for all,” he said.
He said the party will make sure that every Namibian child is in school.
“We will use science, technology, and innovation not as ends in themselves, but to produce the knowledge, information, skills, and talent needed to support, facilitate, and fuel the development and growth of strategic industries and sectors . . ,” he said.
Lukato said his administration would ensure all schools have access to adequate sanitation, and that pit latrines are completely eradicated and replaced with safe and adequate flushing toilets.
He said the NDP government would increase the use of information and communication technology for teaching, with the aim of achieving universal coverage in computer literacy by 2026.
