Lüderitz mayor Phil Balhao said the career fair hosted at the town on Wednesday equipped young people with the necessary knowledge to prepare for their future.
“Use these opportunities to make sure that they impact and benefit the community of this beautiful town,” said Balhao.
As Lüderitz braces to become the hub for economic investment, business and job opportunities, it is essential that the young people of Lüderitz are included in the conversations, said Balhao.
“This is a partnership between us and you. There’s a lot of excitement regarding Lüderitz at this point, lots of amazing career opportunities on the horizon, lots of amazing beams,” said Balhao.
Many pupils expressed gratitude for the insights they gained and the networking opportunities provided.
Jay-Cee Draghoender, a pupil at Angra Pequena Secondary School, expressed his gratitude toward the organisers of the event saying: “I am very delighted with the experience, it’s very informative and I’ve gained a lot of new knowledge from the exhibitors.”
Guinilsa Kanyeumbo, a pupil at Angra Pequena Secondary School says: “This is very important for our small town as it gives opportunities to all these companies to give pupils information about things they would otherwise not have been privy to know.”
The Lüderitz Town Council plans to make the career fair an annual event, fostering ongoing connections between learners and industry professionals to support the economic growth of the region.
The event is scheduled to conclude this Saturday.
