Roof of Africa Restaurant will soon be hosting its inaugural music festival at the Windhoek Showgrounds.

According to the organisers, the showgrounds will become the ultimate gathering place for music lovers.

The festival will take place during the Agricultural Windhoek Show, which runs from 27 September to 5 October.

Roof of Africa managing director Torsten Krumnow says a diverse line-up of local talent is in store.

“Whether you’re a fan of high-energy music or prefer a mellow evening vibe, there is something for everyone,” he says.

Top Cheri, DJ Vuyo, George Longane, Berthold Mbinda, Riaan Smit, The Yesterdaye and The Ells are among the supporting acts that will provide live entertainment.

Krumnow says an open mic day will be hosted to allow newly discovered and up-and-coming artists to showcase their talent.

“Berthhold Mbinda will support the new artists, and the top three will perform at the Windhoek Show on the last day and receive a total of N$5 000.”

But no event is complete without a well-curated menu.

In addition to the usual crowd-pleasers, the restaurant will serve a festival-exclusive menu of speciality dishes and drinks, Krumnow says.

The restaurant will also host an a la carte restaurant and a beer garden accommodating up to 500 guests.

Krumnow says the restaurant’s menu will include fresh oysters, seafood, traditional Namibian dishes, steaks and German dishes, as well as its famous award-winning beers, crafted in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot.

“We have always been committed to supporting local talent and creating an environment in which people can enjoy good music, good food and good company.

“We want to significantly improve the livelihood of the Windhoek show,” he says, adding that the festival is the restaurant’s way of giving back to its customers and to the artists who help make the capital special.

The establishment will be bringing along a few of their 1 000-litre mobile tanks to provide quick service and an endless supply of beer at three bars.
