Events this weekend and beyond

It’s officially wash and wear season, so start planning your outfits now already. There are festivals, live music performances and fundraising events you can choose from in the coming days, or you could unwind with a frolic through a market or a fundraiser for animals in need. We have it all.

Today

Tonight is Harmony of Nusantara: The Colours of Indonesia, a cultural event by the embassy from 18h00 to 20h00 at the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek. Hosted by Ashwyn Mberi and Wilzahn Gelderbloem and featuring several live performances like The Ells, Lize Ehlers, The OYO Dance Troupe, The Indonesian Embassy Band and more, this show is free of charge.

Friday

Join in on the Summer Fiesta with Sir Wine Hotels today and Saturday. There will be live music by artists such as DJ Asserdeep, DJ Spuzza, DJ Erro and more.

Today, the Soup Kitchen Fundraising Braai kicks off at Ombili Steve Bar from 13h00. This event will continue on Saturday, where you can come through for meat, roasted bread and other meals.

Catch the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre’s monthly acoustic Friday live show, featuring Meno and Khadijah Herunga & Ou Slow. Tickets are N$60 in advance and N$80 at the gate.

There will also be the NamJive Youth Dance Concert: Battle of Giants today and tomorrow, at the UN Plaza Amphitheatre. Come as a spectator or join in and stand a chance to win N$10 000.

Saturday

This Saturday is day one of the 2024 Multichoice Film Festival. Dive into a weekend of Namibian cinematic brilliance with their Film Industry Day at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre. The two-day event includes local curated games, exclusive screenings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, content hubs, fun for the kids and more. Day two, the Family Film and Fun Day, will be on Sunday.

From 09h00 next Saturday, SPCA Windhoek will be running a yard sale to raise funds for animals in need. Donations are welcome leading up to the date.

Try blending socialising and creativity with the Wine Not? Sip and Paint Evening at Pekuta Grill and Bar on 28 September. Tickets are N$450 per person or N$800 for a pair.

Saturday is all about live music. With Love From Cape Town, hosted by KykNet’s Maurice Page and starring various musical acts, will take place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino from 20h00.

At Wolfshack, Riaan Smit and the Shadows will be on stage for an exciting night of entertainment.

Our favourite trio PDK is back together for their Reloaded show at Oshikango Country Lodge. Tickets are going for N$40.

Next Week

Kasi Vibe Festival is back for another three days of fun and thrills at the Sam Nujoma Stadium next Friday. Entry is N$80 at the gate, for access to food and drink stalls, SME exhibitions and musical performances.

On 5 October, One Worship Movement & The Udn Productions will have the ‘Qualified’ live DVD recording of singer Ulochi at the Hilton Hotel.

Saturday is The Cancer Association of Namibia and Sanlam Namibia’s Hats and Roses musical event with PJ Powers Thandeka and the Namibian Queens of Song at Mecure Hotel in Windhoek. Tickets start at N$550.

There’s a substance abuse support group every Thursday from 18h00, hosted free of charge by Saffron Psychological Services at the CCN Building at Eros.

Sing as loud and as off key as you want at karaoke: Wednesdays at Mynt Nightclub, Thursdays at Tipsy Rabbit Hole, or Saturdays at Isabel’s Table.

Every week is the Sunday Market at the Village Garden from 09h00 to 15h00. There are stalls, kiddies activities, live music, food and drinks.
